    @GossiTheDog The challenge here is turning this so the school children are not working *against* the security put in place by IT, but are instead working *for* it. So instead of using the vulnerability for themselves, the pupils do responsible disclosure properly.

    That was slightly more drama updating to Mastodon v4.5.0 than I wanted. The OS restarted while the database migration was in progress so I had to restore the database from backups. Except this took some time because of the size of the database and the fact that the backup software I have for the #PostgreSQL server needs to rewrite the entire database to restore older versions. #MastoAdmin

    In the past few weeks there has been a bot farm hammering small Mastodon instances with requests for what looks like emoji-related assets and the hashtag API. More specifically, it appears this bot farm has now come for my Mastodon instance, because the number of requests has doubled in the last 24 hours, with a lot of the requests being API requests for a single JSON file.
