TIL: on minimal apt-based system (e.g. rust:trixie) you can use apt-helper to download files: /usr/lib/apt/apt-helper download-file https://example.com/file.tar.gz /tmp/file.tar.gz

I recently moved a 25 year old C project from CMake to zig’s build system (zig cc). It was super straightforward and much easier than CMake (granted my project is also very simple https://github.com/beanieboi/traff). The compiler also found a tiny bug which was not detected by gcc (https://github.com/beanieboi/traff/commit/8c2496b6b4a1171ba95e69bbe57af67c55e639c0) Here is a really good blog post by @andrewrk explaining zig cc. https://andrewkelley.me/post/zig-cc-powerful-drop-in-replacement-...
