It’s never a super crisp high res photo of Bigfoot. Even my bad pictures have more clarity than “Bigfoot sightings”

Why is it that I easily run linux servers in my basement, can learn a new programming language in a few days, have accomplished things colleagues before me failed at, write rock solid software and jobs that almost never break in production, and more, yet I can’t build up enough confidence in myself to start looking for a new job? Sometimes I think I have a form of ptsd from my last two jobs.

What's everyone's favorite crafting mechanics in video games? Curious what's out there that I maybe haven't experienced. #Videogames #crafting

Well I spent two hours cleaning up outside after the paint stripping failure. Now to just relax the rest of the day. The weather is supposed to get hot and raining coming up here so there’s no point in trying again right now. Need to figure out what harsh chemical to try next though.

Anyone run a Clip Studio Paint sub on iPad and a perpetual license on PC? Have you had any issues with file compatibility between 5.0 vs 5.1+ (for example) when switching between the two?

I just tried blazin knockout wings from Buffalo Wild Wings. Would not recommend. They are all spice and no flavor. My ears were burning, my sinuses are gloriously clear and I have the hiccups. I don’t mind that level of spice if it has good flavor with it, but when it’s all spice it’s just not good.

The more people say that AI being designed by China is this big bad boogeyman, without explaining how or why, the more I’m convinced China isn’t this big bad boogeyman they want it to be. P.S. don’t @ me saying China is horrible. I know they aren’t all sunshine and roses. That’s not my fucking point. This all just reminds me of the communist witch hunts in the US’s past. A country can be horrible and also not the big bad that propaganda is making it out to be.

I really want a game that’s a world trade simulator with everything going on. I can’t find any. Does anyone know if this kinda game exists?

#3GoodThings #Today - saw a good friend who was in town for the first time in months. We talked for a number of hours - watched this week’s Game Changer finally and it was a hoot. - pretty decent chill time the rest of the evening.

I really despise the 🔞 emoji. It’s supposed to represent 18+ only it think, but it comes across as children only in my opinion. Such a horrible design.

duckduckfedi I have a NFS mount I'm trying to backup my AIO Nextcloud installation too. It's failings on a mkdir call and I think I have the permissions correct, but obviously something is going wrong in the chain of complexity. My NFS mount is squashing root, it uses ACLs for perms and I have a group I add users to that give access to the NFS mount. As far as I can tell the NC backup is running as root, root is in that group, and that when I run commands as sudo I have access. I'...

Kagi is amazing for coding searches! The first result is almost always exactly what you want and the official documentation, instead of all those horrible programmer tutorial sites you get on mainstream search engines.

The kitty terminal makes some really weird decisions, and every time I lookup an issue and find someone having trouble with the same thing, I get a github thread where the developer is being an asshole.

Me yesterday: I’ll just play with some terminals and stuff. But it’s too much hassle to sync all this shit to my servers so I’ll just keep using bash long term. Me this morning: you know, with fish installed by Ansible, I can write a python script to install starship and chezmoi across ssh and then sync my chezmoi and scripts using a read only api token with git.

I’m going to be honest, while the easy of installation is undeniable, piping an internet install script into sh gives me the heebie-jeebies every time I have to do it.

Okay I think I finally figured out how to use Ansible in a sane way. I figured out how roles worked and set a common role. I also migrated my horrible mess of a Minecraft playbook to a horrible mess of a role (it’s contained now instead of polluting the repo root). I gotta say, I think the Ansible docs do people a great disservice immediately teaching people how to do host groups in an inventory instead of just individual servers I’d rather have individual server playbooks with roles.

It’s amazing when something clicks. Your repo almost immediately goes from a complete mess to something sane and more organized.

@Poe I’m working through the TNG episodes in order too, and I'm kinda bogged down in season 4. A lot of mediocre episodes in here. On episode 20, getting there. If I remember right season 5 onwards tend to have a lot of better episodes.

All the guides I can find on building the Linux kernel are outdated. Missing dependencies you need to install and incorrect configs you have to change to disable the certificate signing if you’re running a Debian based system. I feel like the internet is rotting away. I really need to get that blog setup so I can throw my notes out there for people as I figure shit like this out.
