I've just tried 6(?) music player apps for #android Wow Material 3/you/android is awful. it's like android's version of liquid glass - hard to look at and who decided we needed UIs to be made of jelly on a bucking bronco machine? I want to see what's a button and what's not. I don't need weird wiggly lines everywhere, like a kids' soft play area. I need backgrounds to be different to eachother to be distinguishable! I don't n...

I just spent an hour doing the UK Govt consultation on #digitalID I highly suggest you do too if you're a UK subject. The consultation seems as naive as to be expected re dangers. Massive overreach/over sharing of data. Fraud/Id theft/coercion risks. State wants biometric face scan - state surveillance will be inevitable. Zero references to trusting US companies (apple&google) to provide secure devices.... #ukpol #privacy #democracy #humanRights https://www.gov.uk/governme...

Like the #openSource #CiviCRM? Wanna come have some fun in #Paris in the autumn? Then you're in luck because the early bird rate has been extended by a FEW DAYS, get your ticket booked now! There's a conference (for everybody) on day 1, and/or join for the sprint/admin/dev/training Tues-Fri. https://civicrm2026.paris/ I love seeing the civi community together. I go to as many as I can reach without flying.

I made a binary chopper for integers and dates. There have been several times when I've needed this while manually sifting data for differences or such. e.g. you can get to a number up to 1,000,000 in 20 tries. I added dates because that's what I needed today and date maths is hard. Anyway, have a play. It's just a single page JS app. No data goes anywhere. https://artfulrobot.uk/lil/binary-chopper/

Oooh. #Debian upgrade to #trixie was a PITA due to several #firewalld related issues. I ended up having to uninstall cloud-init. Next up: docker. Very annoying, wouldn't start with firewalld up. Fought it a while, installed it the docker way (not debians repos), still same problem. In a surprise move, I've ended up just switching to #podman which ... seems to have worked, and I can't quite believe it was that easy...

There's a campaign by #foxGlove: Get #palantir our of the #NHS The Financial Times reported that "UK ministers have sought advice on triggering a break clause in Palantir's contract as they come under mounting pressure to eject the controversial American company from NHS England data systems." You might like to sign if you'd like to add to that pressure! #privatisation #publicServices https://www.foxglove.org.uk/campaigns/wes-streeting-trigger-the-...

I'd pay monthly for a reasonable #searchEngine that either has no AI or lets me definitely permanently turn it all off, and ideally which has features like #startPage which lets you tell it to ignore certain domains (e.g. amazon.com). Also that's not US-based for obvious reasons. Instead I get "oh please disable your ad blocker" and if I do, then the ads get in the way, slow down the results loading and generally annoy me.
