  RE: https://social.treehouse.systems/@ariadne/117270693101928179 i took a few minutes to quickly read through the essay dario amodei (CEO of anthropic) dropped over the weekend. my takeaway from it is that "pacing the frontier" is more likely a convenient narrative for a problem the frontier labs are inevitably going to run into anyway: as these monolithic models scale, the physical and economic difficulty of scaling them grows with them.

  I used to be skeptical about harmful starlink was to our night sky, but after spending this summer camping, I have to say that @sundogplanets@mastodon.social has a point. when you do dispersed camping in the middle of nowhere, you can see starlink satellites all over the place moving around with the naked eye. it is actually kind of distressing. I don't know what to do about it.
