  The obeying in advance has begun. This "useful idiot with commit access" added a "birthdate" field to systemd, a Microsoft employee merged it, and Lennart Poettering himself blocked a revert... after the useful idiot himself admitted his change is "hilariously pointless" and argued it should be merged anyways.

  Yeah, "kudos to Microsoft" for doing something other operating systems have done for decades.   I *finally* got networking on FreeDOS within qemu under Termux on my Android phone working! All I need to do is install the FDNET package, then add "-nic user,model=ne2k_isa" to the qemu command to launch FreeDOS.

If the patched kernels pass muster, I wouldn't be surprised if Red Hat quietly decides to use them. Well done, AlmaLinux developers!

  Okay, so while networking works on FreeDOS on my phone now, it's quite slow. Using the Links web browser is okay, but downloads and updates are like molasses. Still better than no networking at all, though.
