  @MaZderMind my argument is that I’m trying to find Canadian owned and operated stuff - and it’s really hit or miss. It does seem like using European is the only viable option until Canada can get its shit together.

  @MaZderMind I’m itching to play around with running OpenStack over multiple bare metal servers. The ability to run your own cloud on your own servers with full control is very appealing. It provides all the usual cloud services a lot of us have been spoiled with over the last 15 years - object storage, attachable block storage, instant spin up of compute, lambda style compute, container based compute, managed databases, virtual networks, virtual load balancers, CLI etc.

  @MaZderMind the price for that is very low compared to here - I was seeing C$250+ a month for 6 core 128GB servers with 4T SATA.

  Found a mostly-decent Canadian provider at last. Cheap VPS prices, semi-decent workable management console. Quick launch times. Only problem I see so far is lack of ability to attach more storage. Looks like only way to get more storage is to pay for a larger instance size. OneProvider if anyone is interested. I spawned an instance on their Vancouver datacentre. Still waiting on OVH 🙄 to process my order - lightning fast VPS service /s

  It is 2050, the world has moved on, has siloed the US and learned to live without it. The US techno oligarchs have created an LLM trained on Trumps rallies and it spends its days announcing tariffs on countries that no longer trade with the US.

  Going to hit the transfer button on mastodon social today to migrate my followers over to my own instance. I suspect I’ll lose a lot of you in the process - so I don’t know, maybe re-follow me if you want, or don’t, I don’t mind - I’m not an influencer and I have no ego to bruise (as Spock says).
