The hanta virus thing could not be a more text book test of pandemic response and we utterly flubbed it as a species. It was handed to us on a platter. All the patient zeros were literally contained on a ship out at sea - this was like the training area in a computer game before you start playing for real and what do we do? Let them all go off on their merry way to infect everyone they come into contact with as they jet set off around the planet. Everyone take a bow.

I truly hate AI coding and what it’s done to the industry. But, I have to be pragmatic - unless I take the leap and leave the field, I need to have some understanding and experience using it and there seems to be a lot to have to learn. Can anyone point me to any resources that are like “AI haters guide to how all this shit works so you can try to hold on to your job until retirement or death takes you”?

Not sure how all these stupid US age verification laws are going to work wrt headless servers. For example, auto scaled VMs running some flavour of Linux (for an AKS,EKS kubernetes cluster say). A new node is brought up automatically when some threshold on resources is met - what then? Does it need to be age verified before it can complete its boot up? Who verifies it? If it’s the middle of the night? What if you are an international customer in say Berlin, and your cluster is running in a datac...

What is it with family always trying to gaslight my medical issues. It's NOT IN MY HEAD. I fucking wish it was all imaginary, I do - but it's not. I was just fine until I got sick at the start of the pandemic and then shortly after everything started to fall apart. I was handling the pandemic just fine emotionally - it was no big deal to me, it was just doing what I had been doing for a decade prior, working from home, keeping to myself mostly. I didn't have a breakdown like everyone...
