@intrepidhero@vmst.io Great photo! I think I forgot to mention this but it was the most windy experience ever camping. It was massively gusty all evening. I went to sleep with noise-canceling headphones but when I woke up in the night and took them out the wind was mysteriously gone! But it was an awesome camp, especially with all of the mountain goats and the views.

Enjoying the alpine meadows of Jefferson Park and the view of Mount Jefferson. Attempted an old route up to Bear Point but an essential trail no longer exists so I had to turn around. It’s a little windy but I found a site that is decently sheltered. I’m at a secret location with a tiny bit of internet. Time to head back to camp for a nap.

Beautiful view of Middle Sister along my hike this morning.

In a rare bit of good news the incoming storm has stalled out over the Pacific Ocean, my mountain pass has cleared out and is above freezing, and Sunday’s rain has disappeared from the forecast. I’ll take it. Time for some hiking and camping.

Spent the morning hiking Hug Point and Cape Falcon. Beautiful day at the Oregon coast currently. Sunny and warm. Lots of my hiking today was along the Oregon Coast Trail. I got tired of the mud so I road walked 101 back to my car to make it a loop. No regrets.

@douglasvb A lot of EV models have been cancelled in the last year due to the political, rebate, and tariff climate. Honda just cancelled some and took a write off. Others are doing the same. But they are mostly increasing on hybrids. Personally, I’m excited for the eventual Pilot hybrid. I have nowhere to charge an EV so not currently feasible.

@douglasvb I guess the cancellations have mainly been in the last three months. Time flies. I certainly would never buy a gas only vehicle again. I’m so in love with my hybrid CRV.

My 17-yo son and I played mechanics for the day. We completed the main goal, which was replacing the worn drive belt. We attempted an inspection of the timing belt. Got the top timing belt cover off, put the front end on jack stands, removed a wheel, peeled back some paneling, but I ended up not have the correct tools to crank the engine by hand. Struggled to get everything back together, made two trips to Harbor Freight. I consider it a success as we wanted to start small and learn. We had fun.

Enjoying my morning at Smith Rock State Park. Currently having breakfast at the top of Eagle’s Nest. First time here and it’s an awesome park so far. Planning to hike all the major trails today on a large loop.
