Today's work for @bevy: create a revised design doc for a first-party entity inspector. I'm happy with the front-end/back-end architecture split, and we're ready to start polishing and upstreaming it incrementally. Writing really helps me think; I'm glad I took the time to do this today. I'd love feedback on it over at: https://hackmd.io/tj99FqRITOGj1j2tuP2EAA?view P.S. There's a "how does this fit into our editor plans" sectio...

Francois and I are hosting a #bevy workshop at RustWeek 2026 again this year! This time, we're going to try a different approach to teaching: handing new-ish users a working game and encouraging them to explore and modify it. I've been working on this project for a while, and it's finally ready to share with the public for beta-testing. Take a gander at the Github Repo (https://github.com/alice-i-cecile/bevy-match-3/tree/master): this should still be an interesting and e...

Despite merging aggressively yesterday (like 20 PRs!) to prepare for Bevy's 0.19 release, the #bevymergetrain cannot, will not be stopped. In the 24 hours since I did that, the community has approved 10 new open source Rust PRs. Grab a beverage (a #bevy ?) and chill with me as we work through them: https://gist.github.com/alice-i-cecile/730e9b2f3b3894a008854ad1ca806c87

Hi #bevy ! It's time for your weekly #bevymergetrain :D Nom-nom-nom: gobble up 8 PRs worth of #rust #gamedev goodness, as we go over the work that the community thinks is ready to merge: https://gist.github.com/alice-i-cecile/72b9ac24f1b782520da7480016375acd Largely fixes today, but some nice chatter about dueling solutions, work that I helped with and why panics are bad actually.

Hi #bevy! Want to hang out at #rustweek in May? We're gathering a list of folks for socialization and unconf planning purposes! If last year is any judge, it should be a lot of fun: bikes, food, hacking, writing docs, pestering upstream :3 Fill in the spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-WJWlTquuSyzxfsyG1WeiJVpf_tjSyDrFDOchKLwZ2M/edit?gid=0#gid=0

A new Rust language design post from boxy (my ???): https://www.boxyuwu.blog/posts/an-incoherent-rust/ This is a complex topic, and as the post itself says, it is a bit "lacking in smallness". 100% worth digging into though if you're interested in #rust or the theory of programming language design. TL;DR: coherence (which is responsible for the orphan rule about trait impls) causes problems with ecosystem lock-in. If we introduce the idea of named trait impls we might...

This week, on the #bevymergetrain: async web tasks! text input! gnarly unsafe #rust ECS internals! bevy_infinite_grid! project management considerations! Thanks again to all of our lovely contributors: both authors and reviewers. We couldn't make #bevy without you. https://gist.github.com/alice-i-cecile/2af4da878075d38036fed09007d3265a#file-bevy-merge-train-2026-03-23-md
