I'm slowly replacing my digital stuff with analog items again and the pleasure of clicky buttons and replaceable AAA batteries is indescribable

So Anthropic ToS states that you can't use Claude to build a competitor of their products fleet. Everyone using Claude is giving their data and code away for them to steal and learn from that. Anthropic releases a design tool almost identical to Figma. The CPO of Anthropic was on the board of Figma until 3 days prior to the Claude Design release. Offloading your critical thinking and IP to a paid and closed source service. Everything is going great I see

The number of men I see using the washroom and leaving without washing their hands at the airport is too damn high. Working together towards another pandemic

@portlandia999 @thunderbird oh, I'm sorry you're experiencing issues. Would you mind reporting the bug in bugzilla, or sending me a message directly? Betterbird is a soft fork of Thunderbird, so the protocol code is exactly the same. It might be that your problem was solved when setting up a new profile in Betterbird for different reasons, but I would love to investigate and solve your problem, so you can come back and not use a less secure version of Thunderbird :D

@portlandia999 @thunderbird I'm sure you know this already, but just in case, Thunderbird development is independent from the general Mozilla push for AI. We're not adding any AI features in Thunderbird and we're not planning to do that. Maybe add-ons in the future, but just for those users that want to experiment with it. Anyway, I would love to help you fix your issues since we want to improve support for Outlook inboxes. Let me know if you feel comfortable reporting...

Nah, really? With that face how can you not trust him? Is it the fact that he compared the wasted energy for training AI to the "energy used to train humans"? Or is it the fact that he said publicly on various occasions that due to his product "people will die and that's okay"? What's not to trust from an empathy lacking sociopathic billionaire? “The problem is Sam Altman”: OpenAI Insiders don’t trust CEO - Ars Technica https://share.google...

I'm still impressed at how easy it is for one person to destroy the good will and passion of people in a open source project. It doesn't matter the size or the resources of the project, if a single lunatic with an insatiable ego gets in, everything turns to shit

I understand the world is shit, people are horrible, life in unfair, and everyone is trying to eat each other, but holy shit some people can't ever stop being negative about everything. Call it a coping mechanism, or my privileged white ass, but I need at least one interaction a day to be positive, especially if it's just you and me coding our stupid little app. Find joy in the little thing, don't always be the person that sucks they energy out of a room

May 6th of last year was the day that my life shattered as I felt my dog taking his last breath. That's a wound that will never close, a feeling of longing that will never go away, and a piece of my heart that is lost forever. I'm lucky to be surrounded by people that love me, but throughout this year the biggest regret I have is not knowing if I gave him enough love. I think about you every day my sweet Peter, sending you kisses through the clouds.

It really sucks that culturally we're wired to only give feedback to developers or projects when things are broken. A product with 15M users gets 100 complaints and only 1 nice "good job" message per month. It's really demoralizing that we accepted the fact that "if you don't hear from them it means things are good". People need positive reinforcement and to know that folks are happy about their work. I understand it's fashi...
