So I love teaching....and I know CyberSec....what it don't know is social media. What I need right now is a way to video capture on fedora that will follow my mouse for vertical video? #linux #video #screencapture #loops #cybersecurity

Ok... So I used to use Chipolo because they had bluetooth device finders that were no in the find my iphone or android device hub. I know this means I am less likely to find a stolen thing. But they allowed me to find my keys when the kid ran off with them or the fire tv remote when it was shoved in the couch. Anyone know of a non-"find my" Bluetooth tracker/locator. Preferably with some sort of sharing so my wife can ping them with her phone too! #privacy #airtag #findmy #android...

So the FBI can log in and change setting ob privately owned devices because they are a threat to the country. However if any security research group did this it would be a violation of the computer fraud and abuse act. I feel like this is an huge overreach, even if its for the better. How about notify ISP and have them notify customers? https://www.techradar.com/pro/security/the-fbi-just-remotely-reset-thousands-of-home-and-small-office-routers-and-your-tp-link-could-be-on-the-hitlist

OK so someone talk me down here.. Can I build a custom live distro with just the apps I use and use something like a self hosted sh file that I can pipe to shell to setup my customization and download dotfiles and have a ephemeral OS that I can be at "home" with any x64 PC with an internet connection? How feasible is this? anyone doing somehting similar. I mean I web browse, email and write some code.. #linux #tails #neovim #lazyvim #privacy #security

So I think the biggest problem I have is I am looking for two products in one. 1. Secure/private cloud storage. Encrypted at rest but with a good sync option. https://tresorit.com/ 2. A collaboration tool that will allow users with free/no account to collab on docs in a web based editor like https://cryptpad.fr/ Looking for something that does this well at the same time. bonus points for good open standards support so its easy to sync/import/backup myself #privacy #cloud #cloudstorage #enc...

I am not a web designer. I was, at one point, a pretty good web admin. I know mostly server back end stuff from before things like NodeJS took off. I know some PHP and CSS and I am very comfortable with a WHM Cpanel server. I say all of this to say, when I make websites I use templates. (Usually free, some paid) and I have recently started going to all of the sites I own and manage and working to ensure they don't have google fonts. This is just another way google is tracking who is do...

Fediverse got me out here defending #proton mail. Just a general reminder, PGP/GPG protects the inside of the email, it does not protect the following: - Who you sent it to - the address you used to send it - The Subject of the message - The IPs you used to connect to mail severs - the name and payment information you used when you signed up for the provier It takes a lot of work and privacy is a sliding scale #privacy #opsec #gpg #themoreyouknow

If you have a product that is licensed by some form of consumable(user count, device count, domains) and you have an API. Please let me pull number of licenses I have, how many are used and when my term expires via that damn API...one call preferably!

So about a week ago, I blocked youtube and reddit at my router. Social media algorithms have been a cancer on my mental health. I start watching a video on woodworking or 3D printing and end up somewhere where each video leaves me angrier and angrier. It was strange to realize this as an addiction. But cutting it out has improved my mood and I have been getting more projects done around the house. All of this by blocking social media sites I only use in browser when not logged in! #mentalhea...

So #privacy people...I currently use pCloud with EU servers for my cloud storage/backup. The price is right, I don't have to worry with it too much (though their WebDAV support is terrible) I pay for space and the 1year modification retention. Is there something else I should be looking at for this? Is their something they do/don't do? How do they rate on the privacy scale? #cloudstorage #privacy #cloud #pcloud

The kids have been home from school at week due to snow. They are going to be home tomorrow as well maybe even Tuesday and Wednesday. No mail, no delivery. Work expectations are that you work from home with the exact same energy and concentration as those days when things are normal. The local government has done little to get life back to normal, no trash pick up, only plow main roads. Online all the news I find is about how every level of government and capitalism is corrupt and living high...

@fixatedpersonsunit no body cares, but the bank who wants to sell your spending habitats to the ad company, and the retailer who needs to make sure they charge you just enough that you won't leave. Or the cell company that wants to use your location and browsing habits to restrict your rights. Or the government who want to make it harder to vote. All #privacy matters.
