The easily reachable content on the internet has become so terrible (poorly AI-generated, clickbait, copy-paste...) that, in order to find good content, you either search on Reddit or look for a blog using 'before:' in your search engine. I am still not used to it, and I probably never will be."

@kev which one is it? I have been thinking on getting one but the low dpi sets me aback

It is getting better (ruff, uv, pyproject...) but Python vast ecosystem and tooling is a chaotic mess. Pylance is propietary and Microsoft is being a dick trying really hard to make it work only on official vscode releases (so no vscodium,, no vscode-oss). Even if you use it the proper way it work sheldomly, comes with some basic features off (because of performance) etc. Package management is also a mess with pip, conda, poetry...

The Fediverse and X rarely see eye to eye, but the new UK OSA law made both communities actually agree: seems to be a disaster.

It’s taking some restraint to resist upgrading my AMD @frameworkcomputer 13. For now, my excuse is waiting for them to step up their BIOS game. In the meantime, I swapped the thermal paste for Honeywell PTM7950. So far, I’m seeing a 5% boost in single-core and 10% in multi-core performance—supposedly, it gets even better after a few cycles. Bonus: watching YouTube videos is noticeably quieter. Not bad for a cheap upgrade!

Finally playing Ocarina of Time how it was meant to be played: at 4K on a Linux laptop with an Xbox controller.

Three years of not using @kdenlive and wow! It was already awesome but not it breeds and feels more professional than ever. I'm using the nightly flatpak, self compiled keeps crashing, most probably because my setup is screqed (self compiled Qt, Plasma, Frameworks..).

@firefoxnightly @mozilla This chart has been flat for at least a year, perhaps it helps you understand why the remaining firefox users are not really happy with the AI news, at least not in x.com/mastodon.

@GrapheneOS A humble suggestion, IIRC you are working on your own Cell phone (can't wait for that), perhaps you might want to take a look at creating a GrapheneOS minipc/stick, good enough to run media apps without all the tracking any other vendor will do. That seems more easily achievable. Perhaps test the waters with a crowdfunding?
