Hi Mastodon mind: I got an email yesterday with the subject You’re now using Gemini on your iOS device the text is a lot of happy talk about Gemini. I use Google Maps and Google Drive, and otherwise try not to use Google at all. I can&#39;t figure out what they are saying here -- I don&#39;t have their Gemini app installed, I have scrutinized the settings for what I do have, as far as I can tell I am *not* using Gemini. So what the hell is going on here?

That&#39;s a helpful way to think about one of the conceptual problems: are they conscious, do they think. That is: if the answer is, do they fit in the capitalist nexus in the right way, then the answer is yes. We could call this the Altman test for thinking and consciousness.
