  What are reasonable folks using for “analytics” these days? Seems like the final demise of Gaug.es is now imminent, and I suppose I care slightly about finding a replacement for it. I really only ever used it for the daily email summaries with the big numbers, don’t really care about much else.

  @deviantollam Wondering if maybe you have an opinion on this: Considering electrifying a residential (non-modern, non-standard) door with an existing mortise lock. I find electric strikes to be distasteful on single-family homes, but can’t seem to find an electrified mortise latch that’s rated/recommended for the use case? Thanks for any insights you may have, love your work.

  I still use Shaun Inman’s Fever as my RSS reader, which is mostly an occasional jaunt, since I get most of my news here or by seeking out specific stories, but you can imagine my horror when I accidentally blew away my install while doing some upgrades, and then didn’t notice for a few days. Fortunately, backups.

  All this hullabaloo about Google Chrome dumping a 4GB file onto people’s computers and I’m over here sitting secure in my decision since ~2015 to never install Google Chrome on any device reserved for my personal use. Yes, it is sometimes annoying, because Chrome is the new IE6, but the risks continue to outweigh the benefits.

  Probably nothing… got a phone call from a manufacturer rep advising that a major distributor had folded and they wanted to see if we had been caught in the apparent crossfire, and make sure we had alternatives lined up.
