I promise I will use mastodon much more often if there’s an actually good iOS app for it

@andresmh @axz Someone once told me Tootle was the best they used and I tried it (actually still using it) and it absolutely sucks. But will give your suggestions a try!

I was initially wondering how mastodon instances would moderate at scale because they don’t have the tools or resources like typical “platforms” do, but now it seems like many of them will have problems just *working* at scale.

@andresmh yeah it’s doable if the instance is small enough, which does require the community to actively reject growth at a certain point. And I don’t think this is a bad idea — doing anything at scale just kind of sucks.

10 months after acceptance this TOCHI paper is finally officially published 🥲 A Trade-off-centered Framework of Content Moderation by yours truly, Peipei Nie, Jed Brubaker, and @cfiesler. https://doi.org/10.1145/3534929. TLDR in this *tweet* because I’m not typing all that out again https://twitter.com/aaroniidx/status/1534576792463216640

@andresmh the problem of scaling moderation is very true but it exists everywhere. it doesn’t really go away even if mastodon.social stops being the default (which seems to be well acknowledged in the replies). I also find it very interesting that the solutions are based on the assumption that there’s a limit to which you can grow communities, or (pushing it a bit more) we fundamentally don’t want communities larger than x number.

Messing with cloud services and Travis CI for my website finally broke me. God bless Github pages and Github Actions.
