In the graph above I’ve arranged the 28 Threadiverse instances with at least 200 monthly active users (MAU)—orange instances running Lemmy, green Piefed, and red Mbin—on the basis of which instances they defederate. While it would be nice if there were more activity, when the alternative is the ever-enshittifying Reddit, our best option is to contribute what we can here, be as welcoming as possible to new users, and block any content that isn’t interesting to achieve a personalized feed of one’s preferred content.

The larger context reveals that this story is about the ancient king Solomon, and it has nothing to do with the modern nation-state, much less one on a continent unknown to the writers of the Bible. Expecting reading comprehension from the average Texan is quite hopeful.

While the Stremio app doesn’t have a settings lock feature, if you’re using Android, per this Reddit thread you can at least disable access to community add-ons by switching the device type in the Stremio settings to FireOS. Per this page on the Stremio GitHub, apparently the default Stremio content search plugin, Cinemeta, is configurable from the web client to restrict what appears in searches based on age ratings. Per this Reddit thread, services like Stremio stop functioning if their servers go down. Thankfully there are alternatives to Stremio—such as the free Jackettio plugin and the paid Debridio plugin—to support continued functionality should anything happen to Torrentio. Torrentio already becomes unstable under heavy load, so I would recommend using another service in conjunction with it as a backup.

Unpaid moderators should have the freedom to act according to their personal preferences. If moderation becomes a problem, the platform’s federated structure also facilitates creating alternative communities.
