  Latest PCB design project is starting to look like I might be summoning digital demons… But in reality is a direction finding setup utilizing ESP32-S2’s (using a shared crystal to keep them in sync) as the discrete radios and antennas, and an ESP32-S3 Wroom-1 N16R8 as the “brain”. They’re set up in a UCA geometry sized to be able to DF on 2.4ghz range targets.

  Rounding out the week by getting video streaming working on my cyberdeck. Test run is watching the matrix streamed from my media server. Have this on while I work on a voice link between WrewOS devices.

  The first messages on #SpectraMesh from the ThinkNode M1 have been sent and received! There's more work to do on the firmware, but it boots and can send/receive messages, which is most of the battle. I may call it a night here and relax - the rest can happen tomorrow. #hacktheplanet

  I releases the GUI companion and Android APK for #SpectraMesh - both can be found on the releases page of the git repository linked here. I also updated the firmware bins on the web flasher to the latest stable firmware with BLE support. I’ll be moving the git repo over to codeberg later this week to allow others to contribute.   Spectra v0.3.0 is looking really solid right now. I may end up pushing a release of it later today at this rate. Changes so far: - Added --daemon mode flag which will launch as a backgrounded daemon. - Added --attach flag to attach a TUI session to a running daemon (without having to kill the daemon first) - MacOS support! - Improved error handling and logging - Installation script w/upgrade handling Theres some smaller things in there too, but these are the big ones #hacktheplanet #spectra

  Ya know, if you want to send and receive messages on a radio.... it's usually a good idea to make sure the radio is properly configured to talk on the frequency you're trying to use. Or, you know, so I've heard. oops.

  Feeling a little irreverent right now, so spending a little time wiring up a few easter eggs into Spectra. I miss easter eggs in software - it's so easy to add and almost universally brings some joy. It should be a thing more often than it is. I will be adding easter eggs to all of my projects going forward.

  Spectra v0.4.0 development underway - the big feature of this release will be support for the stock MeshCore USB Companion firmware that is available on their web flasher. This will make it a lot more approachable for those who want to use MeshCore, as all you have to do is plug the radio in and load up spectra and you're off and running. I've got the implementation done, so now it's just a matter of testing while I add some other small features and bug fixes.
