  I have about a dozen board games I've never played because doing a teach while doing a learn is, well, stupid. I'm giving an hour a night for a week to complex games and at least 5 rounds of simple ones. This week in "exercises for attention span" I'm playing four player Dead of Winter; alone. So far, I've won once and died on the Raxxon mission part 2. Stupid monkey got spread bit once the door was open! There's no way out of that. 😨...

  This #homelab stuff is getting crazy. Set up a local LLM, headless steam server and sunshine/Apollo to have a Gabecube in the living room, (mostly for emulation) Hermes as a private AI assistant has helped me build some python cron jobs to sync my audiobook, moon reader and hardcover progress. Push all of my health tracking stuff into one interface. Yep, a 5090 is gonna pay for itself in... *checks watch* 4 years. 😅

  Today in #homelab adventures I moved off of cronometer and garmin's invasive apps and onto gadgetbridge + sparkyfitness. 100% self hosted, no data leaking and I have full control. I think I'm even going to do a monthly donation to sparkyfitness of $5. This is some really good stuff.

  Moved off of portainer and onto dockge today. I was so SICK of never knowing where a docker compose's . volumes would end up and having to manually rework everything. Was pretty easy to sort out and I'm glad I'll never run into a 500 error with no debug information at all and a half up mess of orphans splattered all over the walls.   I have a state of the art biometric security system that's unhackable. Unfortunately I'm also stupid enough to put a pair of eyes w retinas that can open the door and a keycard w the code on it next to each door.

  Feeling kind of happy about going back to the office after more than a week off. It's not really a vacation if you're not at least a little excited to go back to work after. Time to go push the wheel of pain.

  @guyyst@mastodon.social there's enough differences and new things to make it well worth your time. For me the overall feel of the book was very different than the movie and the way it telegraphs the major twists robbed it of something. There's still a lot of meat on the bone going movie then book. That said it's one of those cases if you have a choice going into the book blind is great. I might have been affected by reading "The Forest of Hands and Teeth" right before it.

  I blew up the budget trading in my uber laptop for a gaming PC since it lived docked 95% of the time. Looks like I do *need* a laptop sometimes. Well, I need a keyboard with a screen on it sometimes. Found an open-box chromebook+ at best buy for $130 (new price $550) The keyboard is a bit, uh, different but the conversion to a linux laptop has been a fun project so far and I have a real SSD to put in to replace the tiny and slow craptastic eMMC storage.   Yep, after a couple of years loving the idea of ChiFi IEMs and landing on the Blessing 3 I've gotten my hands on a Technics AZ100. I can't tell the difference in detail between the two now that I've gotten some foam tips for the AZ100s. So I guess it's ebay time for the IEMs, bluetooth DACs and whatevers. It was fun while I was placeboing myself into the idea that big chonkin buds sounded better. I'm probably just too old for this crap. #IEM #headphon...

  If I'm dealing with someone in the real world in a retail or customer service situation and I have to say "what?" more than three times I'll flat out say "I'm going to need a little more volume from you." They always seem like I'm being rude. Shouldn't three whats just imply that they're speaking too quietly?

  @mookie@chow.fan it's another one of those properties where the adaptation writers were actively hostile to the story being told in the original graphic novel. I really didn't like the graphic novel. It's my least fav of Stalenhag's works, and I own them all, but it still burns my biscuits when writers do this to authors.

  Moving cachyos from my z13 flow 64gb to my brand new shiny 9850x3d+5080 was not simple, but was pretty easy. Disabled secure boot, installed nvidia drivers and redid the secure boot keys. Lordy it's fast. I forgot how much better per dollar a desktop is. #pcgaming #homelab
