A great day at the beach today!. The ocean was calm and I had a nice swim. One “wrinkle”— before the swim, a large fin emerged and moved about for several minutes. Drew quite a crowd of onlookers. With the known presence of aggressive sharks here, I was just about to cancel the swim. But soon the fin flopped back and forth, consistent with an ocean sunfish, not a shark. After waiting a while, I then went for the swim. Fun! #CapeCod #ocean #beach #photography #nature #NaturePhotography

Packing now for my hike in the Presidential Range, White Mountains, NH. Here I am, sweating from the heat and occasionally standing in front of a fan to cool off, packing a beanie cap, neck gaiter, gloves and mittens, puffy jacket/pants, and full wind suit. Feels so contradictory in the moment, but it's so important to read the mountain forecast. Summit forecast calls for well below-freezing wind chill factor for tomorrow morning, rising to just above freezing later on. ❄️ #hiking #mounta...

Just now arrived in the White Mountains, NH. Will be hiking tomorrow. This is a different mountain range (Presidential) from what I’ve spent most of the last 6+ years in. As much as I enjoyed the other ranges (most in Pemigewasset Wilderness), I’m looking to try out new trails. Keeping it simple on the first several trips— plan to day-hike as many different trails as possible, enjoying the new area plus scouting for good (future) primitive camping and snowshoeing. See you on the other side! 😀⛰️

Went for a nice bike ride in a local forest at sunset last evening after the heat broke for the day. Thought I had the trail to myself until I encountered this fine creature. I lost in a stare-down contest! 😂 #cycling #wildlife #nature #photography #WildlifePhotography #NaturePhotography

For #MountainMonday, I am heading back today to the White Mountains, NH to enjoy some more hiking. I will be at the same range as last month (Presidential Range), but this time staying low and hiking trails that follow along streams and waterfalls. 😀 ⛰️

Went canoeing today on a river north of Boston. Very pleasant, ideal conditions. Saw a nice mix of turtles, swans and their cygnets, a heron, and expansive areas of flowering lily pads. So much nature to enjoy in spite of the river winding through neighborhoods! #nature #canoe #river #photography #NaturePhotography #landscape #LandscapePhotography #boat

With snowshoeing season over and spring backpacking around the corner, this is a good time to head south for some fun in warm, clear water! I’ll be mostly off the grid for the next week or so. See you on the other side!

After a period of heavy rain, the skies nicely cleared up here in SE Massachusetts making for picturesque scenes like this. Drove past this while doing errands-- couldn't help but stop and take in the view! #Footbridge #ocean #nature #photography #bridge #NaturePhotography #SeaScape

With most of the snow from the recent storm plowed off the streets, I was able to drive to the Cape Cod canal today to take a nice walk. The water was very calm, even on the open ocean shown here at the entrance to the canal. Hard to imagine how the seas were raging at this spot less than a week ago during the major storm we had here. #CapeCod #ocean #beach #nature #photography #SeaScape #NaturePhotography

All of the recent snow here in SE Massachusetts has remained on the ground making for great snowshoeing conditions. Enjoyed a sunset hike this evening, snowshoeing through a local forest. Had the place to myself— only sound was of my snowshoes crunching on the snow. 😀❄️ #snowshoeing #sunset #nature #hiking #landscape #photography #NaturePhotography #LandscapePhotography #winter

Happy #WaterfallWednesday! About this time last year, I spent a week exploring the area in and around Stowe, Vermont. It was a beautiful winter wonderland! Hiked to the base of this tall waterfall. Frozen solid from all of the days well below freezing. Many beautiful features! #hiking #winter #Vermont #nature #photography #landscape #NaturePhotography #LandscapePhotography #waterfall #waterfalls
