  Fuck you @gitlab UI and reactive web UIs in general!!! I just spend 2-3 hours writing an elaborate issue description for @videolan, including console output examples etc. And then while editing something I must have clicked some pop-up in the bottom left and now the whole ticket preview is empty... Ctrl-Z does not undo it...

  Opened a ticket at @videolan about the issue of selecting the wrong interface for #multicast: https://code.videolan.org/videolan/vlc/-/work_items/29992 It's basically the same issue I had also reported for #Qaul / #libp2p: https://github.com/libp2p/rust-libp2p/issues/5783 It would be really great if #IETF #RFCs could give a better guidance on which interface for multicast an application or OS should choose.

  ChatGPT/dmesg output also made me aware that this downstream driver fork in #OpenWrt called ag71xx-legacy is not an up-to-date thing, supposedly using some old kernel interfaces? And that the original #ag71xx driver probably never got #SFP initialization stuff (so far). And I also couldn't find anything else with that driver in OpenWrt with an SFP port yet. So looks like one would need to compare some vendor C with what's in OpenWrt maybe. And should substitute some used kernel interface...

  As blocktrron has stumbled over this issue in their #Freifunk network, too, that it would take a long time to get an IPv6 address, we looked a bit deeper into it. Basically it's three pieces of software not doing things optimally, each could probably have avoided the issue.   Oh, a feature I was looking for in #Meshtastic already exists! As I wrote before it can mesh over #UDP #multicast and I made a patch for #Gluon to let the firewall pass that. But then everyone on #Freifunk could reconfigure it. Turns out you can have a 2nd meshtastic device as a controller for all your others. So now I have a T1000-E #bluetooth paired with my phone. And only this is allowed to reconfigure the Heltec v3 device. Which is WLAN connected to a mobile Glinet XE300 Freifunk + LTE node.

  Theoretisch hängt hier jetzt auch ein #Meshtastic Knoten im #Nobreakspace des @chaotikumev, dem ihr versuchen könnt, Nachrichten zu schreiben. Leider, da im Keller, gerade idR. per #MQTT oder UDP #multicast über @ffhl (also beides übers Internet).

  Nice talk at the @battlemesh about #Realtek #switches running #OpenWrt. To get people even more excited about it this is how an OpenWrt #LuCI can look like with 52 ports :D. This D-Link DGS-1210-52 F1 was obtained for just 50€ on a German second hand online market place (kleinanzeigen.de) and is now running in the #Nobreakspace. Always make sure to pick the correct revision though, there are switches with very similar names but which don't use a Realtek chip. #rtl83xx #rtl93xx

  I know it's already "old" and "common" tech in the #OpenWrt land, but had tried the ASU (attended sysupgrade) for the first time today. Worked like a charm, could update a switch from one snapshot release to a slightly newer one via LuCI. This makes updating so much more effortless on OpenWrt!
