  Today in Amman we expect 22 - 34°C. Ok, it's end of July and this is not much above normal, if I'm not mistaken. It might stay like this for some time, but mostly I think we are well equipped to deal with this type of temperature. For anybody working outside it is a lot - fortunately many companies change working hours; street cleaners work morning and evening, with a long brake during the hot time.   Looks like I did not update our catnews since long time. Some weeks ago our DIL came, nearly crying: she had seen a very sweet kitten in the pet shop and it was not well and might die! The owner threw it in her arms and as her own cats would not accept it the little one landed here and developed into a cute little gangster. We called him Fufu after finding out it was probably a boy. He is a spoiled little sweety: #Caturday

  New day. 8am in Amman. Still a bit more quiet outside as usual because it is the last official holiday for our Eid, so schools etc are still closed. We used yesterday morning to do a big shopping - in Ramadan we only bought strictly necessary like fresh fruit or milk etc. - to fill up the storage cupboard. I expect rising prices for food, although in Jordan they don't let the "market" profit too excessively of changing prices on the world markets. But at a certain poin...

  I don't even count how many times per day I hear the alarm. Just now again. Not too much to worry, we are not the target here, but living in the shadow of the war after 2,5 years of war against Gaza is beginning to fray my nerves. Yesterday hits close to Natanz in Iran and Dimona in Israel. You know what these two cities have in common? Yes. And Dimona is damn close east of Gaza, too.

  Not so happy. Financially, 2025 was probably the worst year I had since I started translating for a living. I lost most of my long time clients - retirement, sickness etc. - and new ones are hard to find. So I am on self promotion now - anyone here who wants his English book translated into German?
