  Almost all of the audio wiring is done in this now. Finished it today. What's left is the AC wiring, which I really can't do until I get the front panel.   Yesterday, after work, at about 6 PM my doorbell rang 3 times VERY fast. I was unwinding after work and relaxing upstairs, so it took me a moment to get my mojo going to answer the door. When I opened the door there was no one there, but there was a cardboard box with 5 quarters in it, at my feet. And no this is not an April Fools post because this happened yesterday.   OMG. More proof that the US's collective IQ is dropping. I had to do an instacart for some groceries, and I live in an apt. complex, HENCE THE APARTMENT NUMBER ON THE FRICKIN ADDRESS. I get a notice that my groceries were delivered (I was in the kitchen. I saw nothing) and the picture of the door wasn't mine. So I reported it and started looking around the complex, to see if anyone had a door like that. 1/x

  So a woman popped out asking what I was looking for and I told her. Well she happened to be the local mail person and she said it was the house across the street. And it was. Yay. Problem solved. Except it was the wrong house number. 220 does not equal 221 so why would you leave the groceries there?   I did a little more wiring on this tube mic preamp. It's almost completely wired. The panel you see is only a stand-in to make sure all of the switches and knobbies would fit without issue. The panel is the right size with the right holes that a friend with a waterjet at his metalshop cut for me for testing purposes.   This is one of the precision potentiometers I'll be using in my tube preamp build. They are stepped (like 24 or 27 steps) made with precision film resistors on a small circuit board in there with the stepping mechanism. I want to get rid of the little nubby sticking up on each pot. I don't have the tools to do this anymore so I'm looking for any suggestions that you might have. I want to get rid of the nubby without damaging the rest of these beautiful things. #Potentio...

  Rewatching these NYPD Blue eps has triggered other memories from that time. When season 1 was happening I had gotten a small cash influx from my grandparents, so I ordered a ZEOS Pentium 90 (complete with FDIV bug, and don't ask me how much it cost!). The rep from ZEOS was really cool and it turned out she was a huge NYPD Blue fan also, so we would talk about the show. I always wondered what happened to that woman.
