@stephen@ephemera.vital.org.nz While I'm privately sceptical of NZ 'winter', if the wood is punky then it's good for the base layer.

#MurderMystery A garden surrounded by flats, private to the tenants. Inkcap mushrooms growing next to a walkway in the garden are deliberately fed to an alcoholic tenant. I can't remember the detective, author, or story title. Ideas?
