  Right, as it's Armchair General time again for the Iran war, my detailed military analysis indicates that the U.S. and Israel has almost zero chance of eliminating the threat of Shaheed drones from Iran. They're 3 metres long, can be hidden almost anywhere and can be launched from almost anywhere. And in a country the size of Iran there's a whole load of anywhere to choose from.   @iinac@climatejustice.social There are no winners when Trump makes the rules. Starmer's in an impossible situation. I don't think it's useful to question his motivations when he doesn't really have any. He's just reacting to circumstances way beyond his control.

As sickening as the whole situation is to us, most of the U.K. public is not against us using our military capacity in the Middle East to try to contain the situation and defend the other Gulf states.

  @NormanDunbar@mastodon.scot Well, yes, but these attacks seem to have only targeted the local oil distribution depots around Tehran, not the main production facilities in the south west of Iran. It's a deadly yet performative kind of terror they are going for.
