Miniature jugs, less than 1 inch that can be strung on cord to wear, with a bit of cotton inside and a drop of favorite essential oil or perfume. Based on examples from the 3rd-5th Centuries CE found across the Mediterranean, their purpose remains unclear: to hold water or soil from a sacred spring or pilgrimage site? Fun to make. I'll have some at the "Mira Las Cruces" festival April 25. #glass #hotglass #lampworking #handmade #ancientglass #arthistory #MastoArt #lasc...

In the midst of all this madness, let's not forget Ukraine. This is an excellent short European documentary (English narration and subtitles) about life underground in Ukraine. https://youtu.be/ua2B3wUSvXk?si=ylKR_RVXHIr_Ti8t #Ukraine #UkraineWar #StandWithUkraine

The funny thing about farmers markets, art fairs, street festivals, etc., is that it's often impossible to gauge how they'll turn out. I thought yesterday would be a pretty ordinary day at our local market, but with lots of tourists from more northerly climates visiting, it turned out to be a very good day. Here are some of the items I sold, along with various bracelets, earrings, pendants, etc. #farmersmarket #handmade #glass #beads #lampwork #flamework #torchwork #artyoucanwear...

A little something new for spring. 17.5 inch necklace with 2 shades of transparent green with added frit, and opaque green, red and yellow flowers and leaves made with small handheld presses. It's in both my Ko-fi and Etsy shops (links in profile). #lampwork #glass #beads #handmade #torchwork #flamework #Spring #green #artyoucanwear #artisanglass #satudioglass #hotglass #lascrucesnm #newmexicoart #newmexicoartist #MastoArt

This 20 inch necklace is finally finished. Inspired by Hellenistic era apotropaic eye beads, but with a selection of more transparent colors than one would find on ancient examples. When we see surviving ancient eye beads today (they were popular from the late Bronze Age onward), they are most often degraded, pitted, discolored, etc., from burial in the ground. #glass #beads #lampwork #flamework #torchwork #art #handmade #newmexico #LasCrucesNM #artyoucanwear #jewelry #necklace

Something different. This piece is full of strong contrasts, and colors laid over colors: 3 shades of red, plus black and white. 19 inches long. Now in my Ko-fi and Etsy shops. https://ko-fi.com/s/a4011f76f0 #glass #beads #necklace #jewelry #lampwork #flamework #artyoucanwear #studioglass #artglass #lascrucesnm #newmexicoartist #handmade #MastoArt
