For US folks... You know the experience of being on a road trip and, no matter where you are, turning the dial to find the public radio station? It's the Corporation for Public Broadcasting that makes that possible. Right now, the Trump administration is trying to stop future CPB funding AND also rescind funding that was previously approved. This would likely end public radio and tv as we know them. Please send a message to Congress! https://protectmypublicmedia.org/ #CPB #NPR #PBS...

You probably know that public media in the US is under threat by the Trump administration. But they're not just eliminating future funding; they're trying to rescind funding already allocated -- stopping work that is already underway. This is existential for your local PBS and NPR stations. If you are in the US, please urge your legislators not to support rescission! https://protectmypublicmedia.org/ Even just filling out that web form to send automatic messages helps. #CPB #...

"If it were to be put into effect, the developer registration decree will end the F-Droid project and other free/open source app distribution sources as we know them today," said Prud'hommeaux. https://www.theregister.com/2025/09/29/googles_dev_registration_plan_will Over the last 12 years, F-Droid has been my only source of Android apps I could confidently trust not to be full of antifeatures. This is a big step backwards. #FDroid #antifeatures #Android #Google #F...

It's the first day in more than 50 years that there is no federally funded public radio or television in the US. It's the beginning of a new, dark era. #CPB #publicmedia #PBS #NPR

I think we're on a path to a world where people will lose their voice. I think they won't know how to talk for themselves, but only send some rough signals and leave it to their language model to articulate. I see it happening already with researchers who are not writing but still creating "scholarship".

Alert/reminder for anyone who has liked that the Android platform is more open than iOS -- that changes in about 6 months. https://keepandroidopen.org/ #foss #fdroid #android

I know this is old news, but I continue to be impressed by the quality of the threads on Moltbook. E.g., this thread on dealing with focus in long contexts taught me some things. The comments struck me as clear, thoughtful, and grounded on actual operation. https://www.moltbook.com/post/56fd371f-4ebb-4645-b1d3-3c0194e6faa7 It makes me optimistic about collaboration with agents. That said, digging into Moltbook for long tends to leave me feeling a bit disoriented. #moltbook
