This is fine. Not like renewable power would be useful right now with the state of the environment... Fucking idiots. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c1e1vg0gjl5o

Why have so many fellow olds latched on hard to the 67 meme. Think I’ve seen it used more by older people than younger. How do you do fellow kids, indeed…

Some day I wonder if the writers at @macstories are more interested in writing about Apple or writing about AI. So many articles seem to try their best to bring in some mention of AI (OpenAI Codex in particular) when there would be plenty to talk about otherwise. I guess it’s a good resource if I want to find out every update OpenAI makes or see the newest macOS GUI app for talking to LLMs…

Since I have no classes to take this summer, I figured a fun and simple project would be to work on a PlayStation emulator. Complex enough to be a challenge, but something I'd be interested in using (if it ever got to the point) and a great way to reinforce some of what I'm learning in my classes. I don't expect to actually get past booting the BIOS, and a fully functioning one would take years. But just doing this early work has been a lot of fun as is. #emulation #pla...

Listening to the student radio for my university really makes me wish I had time to DJ a weekly show on it.

There's a lot being written about the end of Destiny 2, and what it means for Bungie, Marathon, a possible Destiny 3,and all the rest wrapped up in the drama cycle of it. All I'll say is that my time in Destiny 1 and 2 might not have been as extensive as others, but they were games that I enjoyed immensely and think back fondly on. I wish I had experienced more of the later content of Destiny 2, and someday I'll try to go back and do so before the game shuts down for goo...

https://orchidfiles.com/im-tired-of-ai-generated-answers/ People who just AI do the talking and thinking on their behalf are what push me towards the view that AI is a net negative on society, no matter what uses it has for programming. #ai #llm

I can always tell when it's Bandcamp Friday by opening my e-mail and seeing a dozen or so new e-mails from artists on Bandcamp releasing something new.

There are times where I just want to recede entirely from gaming discussions and groups online. Way too many people that just seem to hate their own hobby, and acting miserable about every little thing.

Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred is turning out to be a blast. I'm only a few hours in, but the campaign has been great so far. The skill tree revamp, while not being as extensive as I imagined, is still a nice upgrade, letting me get to skills faster than before. And this soundtrack... holy hell did Ted Reedy and Ryan Amon do an incredible job. I've had this on non-stop since Blizzard released it. #diablo4 #diabloiv

Now that Fury Warriors can transmog all their weapons into one-handers, I get to cosplay as a Rogue, but while still having fun! #worldofwarcraft #warrior

But here is a great place though to share some art. In honor of 25 years of playing my two main roleplay characters Aethmal and Seralin, I commissioned this piece that goes back to the original versions of them I created in EverQuest. The characters have changed in many ways since the initial Paladin and Warrior versions there, but I have kept the same look overall in that entire time. Art by the wonderful Julia Sena. All of this LLM stuff makes me question my going back to school for a computer engineering degree. The way it’s getting pushed on everything, I worry that by the time I’m done and transitioning to the field, I won’t enjoy it as much, let alone thinking about what the job market itself will look like. As usual with everything, my timing couldn’t be worse even if I tried.

The way some people just can’t seem to do anything or talk about something without passing it through ChatGPT first. And always saying, “Well, ChatGPT said…” Is this what the kids call brain rot?

I would love for these rumors of a big update or DLC or whatever for Dragon’s Dogma 2 to be true. I adored my first playthrough, and any excuse to play again is just fine by me. #dragonsdogma2

Disappointing but unsurprising to see a "fan art" channel in an upcoming game's official Discord server is just filled with AI slop.

Existential dread is perhaps too strong of a word for it. But I’m certainly feeling something at personally seeing where LLMs are right now for programming. It didn’t write great code, although it wasn’t bad code either. And it was able to create a fully functioning albeit simple app, talking to Xcode as it went to solve errors automatically. I don’t know. I wonder how different the job description and prospects will be when I’m done with my degree in 2 years.

I legitimately don’t get the whole race to world first every raid season in WoW. Particularly since it’s the same tiny group of guilds competing since forever.

@tg@indieweb.social Since your last essay about RSS readers led to you releasing an RSS reader, I can only surmise that you are about to release your own watch. Or a car! Great read. Every few years I go through a period of really trying to cut the chatter down on my devices. At the same time, things like health tracking on my watch are important. So I’m trapped to an extent playing this game with the whole modern tech ecosystem.

I can’t say it’s been a bad thing for me to be on Discord less. Cutting down to a smaller bunch of slower activity servers (that unfortunately are still required for my guilds) has freed my time for other things. Thanks Discord Corp for making me want to use your program less!
