@cola I recorded the first time I was in VR with FBT (not just my Kinect), lots of me in a mirror in that video (something I barely do normally), it was fascinating. Also, using joycons for SlimeVR requires that you limit your expectations. IMU drift is rough with joycons.

@jellyosaurus I use a VPS as a relay, set up "boring proxy" on one to allow for easy setup of tunnels. The easy way is using a free/paid service like Ngrok. But just getting a VPS that is close by latency wise works about as well. Alternatively, if the people you are playing with are far away and in the same area, then getting a VPS near them could minimize latency, server halls seems to have more efficient routes than residential, shaved quite a few tens of ms of by having th...

@soatok Was a few weeks ago someone posted about a large amount of traffic hitting their website, which ended up coming from a Chinese search engine web crawler, must have gotten stuck in a loop or something. Might be worth using as a starting point.

@digitalfox @soatok I apparently have no sense of time and completely forgot my source. Yes, that was what I was referring to.

@maybenot @pinkcreeper100 @larsfrommars@toot.garden Didn't they. . . cancel it? I don't remember where I heard that, but with how long it has been, I doubt they are actually going to implement it.

@soatok @trystimuli what do you define as dumb? Inside out tracking basically means that it will be standalone capable. The actually dumb ones are expensive and only ones we really know will release is a Varjo and maybe another Pimax (Pimax sure aren't that reliable though). Don't think there has been any other leaks or rumors for dumb headset.

@sebian @GossiTheDog I think their scale only goes that low if the game outright doesn't work, but in this case it might be that the trust with the company is so broken that they can't discount that they could have bundled malware with it, going off the "where I am afraid to continue running it on my PC".

@aeyonsystems It would be cool to see a robo Avali.

@coffee Faster than the Oracle ARM VPS? Regardless, I am surprised I missed them, for the specs this is surprisingly cheap.

@anthropy Oh I wonder. . . So search engines and LLMs, to my knowledge, both figure out what information is "important" based on the number of times it is mentioned during its scrape, stuff on the fediverse can be distributed far and wide across many websites, unless the scraper accounted for that. . which they might not have.

@nytpu The engineers themselves put it at about the performance of a steam deck, when accounting for overhead (I assume that includes 20-30% FEX overhead) so VR is *doable* but specific Frame optimized versions would do good.
