Just a thought for the New Year. Wouldn&#39;t it be a good idea to fix traffic lights before attempting &#39;self driving cars&#39; ? Surely it&#39;s an easier engineering job to make them smart ? This ones been bugging me.

Random thought of the day. I think the real test for AI tools which help people who use computers for a living .. is actually opening the dam file window to the files you want. It&#39;s been this way for me for 30 years. Still not happened. #AI

@clive I&#39;m from the era when it wasn&#39;t possible to study ludology at uni .. no mind early school. Nor general game making .. but then again .. art studies were available .. but I chose to study computer science and philosophy anyway. Perhaps the field still has some maturing to do. I rarely see the inexorable relationship between great design and the detail of core mechanics focused on in literature. That&#39;s actually the hard part.

Instead of the semantic, axiomatic actual AI that presents formally the myriad of obvious ways we have fundamentally being going wrong, we get a non-semantic AI based on big data that regurgitates all our misconceptions as one, and casts itself as a truth bot. And we go nuts. #chatgpt Frank Herbert are you seeing this ?

@clive Gary Marcus seems to have single handedly fought and maintained some sanity in the discussions surrounding the deep learning language models. Aided in battle by a post 90 year old Noam Chomsky. Good grief. There are others of course .. nice rationalism with the article
