Xavier Becerra is strongly ahead in 4 of the 5 poll aggregators (and essentially tied in the fifth one). @Democrats in California, make sure to vote tomorrow in the Gubernatorial primary, if you haven't already voted. https://luisfierro.substack.com/p/california-cannot-afford-to-get-this

$1.8 Billion Fund Is ‘Not Moving Forward,’ Blanche Says Todd Blanche, the acting attorney general, told lawmakers that the Justice Department was withdrawing a proposal to create a $1.8 billion fund to compensate people claiming to be victims of prosecution. The announcement follows a revolt from Republicans who saw it as an ethical and political abomination. In effect: settlement that gave the president, his family and businesses protection from I.R.S. investigations. https://www.nytimes.com...

The coal-funded hedge fund billionaire @TomSteyer keeps talking about “corporations against progressives”. I hope he really stops with his $250 million vanity campaigns.

The key is that Xavier Becerra leads @TomSteyer in all of the large cities with the most outstanding votes (Los Angeles, Orange County, Sacramento, counties around San Francisco and San Diego). He also leads Hilton in 3/5, so the margin will shrink.

Maine voters should elect Janet Mills: - no Nazi tattoos - no sexist or racist posts - no “sexting” to others while married - no accusations of pushing men around (although she did crush Trump)

The mountain of public debt that threatens global stability Global public debt will reach 100% of GDP in 2029. The United States, Japan, Italy, and other advanced economies have already surpassed that threshold. The US fiscal deficit is approaching 6% of GDP, driven by tax cuts and reduced military spending. Ecuador faces the paradoxical case of a manageable debt in proportion, but one that is stifling in terms of cash flow under its rigid dollarization. Read more: https://luisfierro.substack...

As I had predicted, @XavierBecerra takes the lead and, given that most of the votes left to count are in cities he won (Los Angeles, Sacramento, counties around San Francisco), he will advance to the general election. Second place likely Republican British Fox commentator Steve Hilton.

China thinks America is declining but still uniquely dangerous It sees Trump as both symptom and accelerant of the decline As Donald Trump completed his first year back in the White House, a group of scholars in Beijing penned a report thanking the American president. Their gratitude was sarcastic, not an endorsement of Trumpian policy. But the sentiment behind it was genuine. Thank you, they wrote, to President Trump for driving away America’s traditional allies https://www.economist.com/chi...
