Path of Exile II, while far from perfect, is the best thing that happened to Diablo-likes since Path of Exile I. Which itself was the best thing that happened since Diablo 2. It’s so good it made me reconsider not playing Vessel of Hatred (I will regret those words in 5 minutes of play). #VideoGames #PathOfExile2

Level scaling is the dumbest fucking choice you can make when designing an ARPG or CRPG. You take too much away for the sake of accessibility. You take away the joy of fleeing a dangerous area, you take away the joy of demolishing the same menaces at higher level, and when everything is tailored for your accessibility, when everything is the same, you simply take away immersion. I can't overstate how fucking ruined an ARPG is when everything is YOUR LEVEL (TM). #VideoGames #ARPG

I wonder if I could be cured, or at least adapt, to my extreme social anxiety. It is not a life to live alone. Nothing worth a damn is gained in solitude, imo. I’m really down. And drunk. Because I’m down. I’m the life of the party. #SocialAnxiety

I feel a deep hatred toward fantasy TTRPGs where everyone can use magic. Everyone is a Jedi, weeeeee... I’m still drunk, but obviously spitting truth facts. #TTRPG

TTRPGs are a cool approximation of real life, except out dice are loaded. #TTRPG

Funny that, earlier this week I emptied a 1tb ssd because I knew this shit was not dead. Gee, I wonder which OS I will install on it, Microsoft. https://arstechnica.com/security/2025/04/microsoft-is-putting-privacy-endangering-recall-back-into-windows-11/ #PcGaming

Unfortunate that SteamOS release is on ValveTime, but eh.

Ugh, I draw a blank. What was the fancy recent dosbox equivalent with scanlines support, already ? #PcEmulation

A windows security update that threatens to destroy your SSD and Microsoft themselves asking the help of the FBI to rat out those pesky palestinian supporters inside their org. In.The.Same.Week. That’s it, people. I’m going linux. #windows #linux

Once I’m done going linux (and good luck to my mental health in case of trouble), I’m taking a deep look at shit corps like google that compare climate activists to extremists. Need to find a search engine. And use Proton Drive. Fuck every corp. They are not our friends. Why threat them like one. #linux #google

I don’t use a lot of the classical problem cases like photoshop or whatever, so the list is limited. I really need a fps counter and limiter, though, and so far my attempts have been unconclusive at best. RE: https://mastodon.gamedev.place/@crudaluna/115097448349365468

So yeah, my BIG issue this week has been to find an equivalent to Afterburner for fps count, and for the nvidia windows drivers with the possibility to set a global fps cap. Very, very unconclusive for now. I mean MangoHud works, when it feels like working. Which is certainly not what I’m looking in a fps limiter. Tested 4 games, 2 didn’t display anything. It’s too bad because I like the look of it. #linux

Yeah but like I said on my last post, mangohud doesn’t work for every game. Slay the Spire and Darkest Dungeon for example, don’t display MangoHud. RE: https://mastodon.gamedev.place/@raptor85/115097591545500379

Steam announced Steam Machines, a ridiculously elegant PC that will probably be both overpriced and underperforming. I don’t even really see how I could insert it in my household for it to make sense. So obviously, I’m in. Gimme. #Steam #SteamMachines

Hey, I played a game. Through completion. There is hope for me ! Though it consisted of shooting people in the face and this is a passion of mine, that and horror books. I’m in a tremendous mental place, yeah. But anyways, I finally played Turbo Overkill. 20 hours and change, I think. 1/2

It was the best game, it was the worst, there can’t be in between in a game that is so hyperbolic. You can feel the passion of the dev, so many fun sequences and winks at classic sci fi works. So long, So hard toward the end (the last level fucked up my nerves for the day) I can totally agree with people saying it’s too long or uneven, but at the end of the day when it works it works so well that you need to lie down and take a cig. Incredible, while admittedly too twitchy for me. 2/2
