Today is my 40th anniversary at the company I work for. People keep saying it’s loyalty but it never was. I’m here because they offered me constant challenges and new roles every few years. And because they compensate fairly. But it’s still cool to say I’ve been here 40 years because so few people can say that about an employer.

Another green daylily bloomed this morning. I’m so far behind posting pics from the garden. There’s a lot happening out there right now.

All the flowers in this picture are coneflowers (echinacea). Normally they’re pink or magenta and I have a lot both of those. But I’m really enjoying these hybrids in other colors. So easy to grow once the right spot was identified.

@splitbrain@octodon.social we had this discussion at dinner with friends. One from each couple finds them to be eyesores and one from each couple thinks they’re beautiful and not at all obstructive. It was a fun conversation

We’re in a cafe in Geronimo, TX. We’re in the country. Folks are nice here but we sure get funny looks from the high school girls that work here. Spreading the good word that gay isn’t evil.

It’s time for the summer lilies. The first is a spider lily that came from a neighbor when she moved. I ‘stole’ one bulb. Last year it did okay but this year I’m getting good flowers and a couple new plants around the base.

Here’s another sun loving lily. I wish it had a prettier name, but all I can find is swamp lily. The bulbs get softball size and the plant itself is probably 4’tall and 5’wide. The swordlike fronds die back in a freeze and make a mess but the flowers are worth it.
