New blog post! What do you get when a British television channel makes a home videogame console? A really long project to make a Tetris clone for it. https://www.leadedsolder.com/2026/07/28/bbc-bridge-companion-part-1-overview.html Come back next week for part 2!

@thomasfuchs thanks. I've never heard of such a device. Are you taking up knitting?

@fozztexx universal edge is a good idea. Is it safe to start making an adapter to this for the PC-6001, or you want to wait for a few more cycles?

@fozztexx good idea. I was just about to ask you how much the female connector costs.

@vga256 very nice.

@ifixcoinops didn't even know this was a thing. I assume you still use a ladder?

@ifixcoinops I gotta get this kit. No longer will I be forced to bribe local magpies to clean my gutters

@markjustmark @ifixcoinops it's gotta be incredible vibes at these meetings where you just propose whatever comes to mind and they turn it into a power tool

@Rib I bet someone on the ScummVM team is working hard as we speak

@mos_8502 why can't you do program bank switching, is it a limitation of the C runtime?
-
Post #769027
@mos_8502 Yeah, I've ruminated myself on how to make z88dk understand something like paging in code segments. It does *have* paging (https://specnext.dev/blog/2024/12/10/everything-you-wanted-to-know-about-z88dk-paging-segmented-memory-addresses-but-were-afraid-to-ask/) but I think I need to do some experiments before I feel safe using it.

Finally getting around to unboxing this FM-77 (non-AV) CRT monitor that Surugaya sent me with *free shipping to Canada*. Hopefully it works; they probably won't do a deal that dumb again. #retrocomputing #fm7 #fujitsu

New blog post! It's part five of my quest to make my very own #ColecoVision. This time, I let other people build one too, and make sure I actually included all the parts! There's still some bugs to work out, but I do still love my first clone system. #retrogaming #kicad #coleco https://www.leadedsolder.com/2026/03/24/colecovision-diy-part-5.html

@mos_8502 I had a lot of fun at VCF Montreal talking to Gregory who does the C64OS for the REU. Very powerful page switching techniques for process freeze/resume.

@kimlockhartga do you take it daily or just as a response?

@vga256 this is wild. I look forward to the write up!

@gloriouscow I assume there used to be some kind of hacked debug that put text mode on a second monitor, or maybe everyone just used a different debugger to crack games.

@smellsofbikes @NilaJones there's been some neat videos with cats that I've seen. Complaining about the weather is always funny.

@hkz @jonn_blanchard the ejector marks also have dirt piled up in them, and the factory code is different on each one. Definitely pulls, but probably what they say they are.

New blog post! Fujitsu made a wildly complicated machine in the FM-77AV2, and this one defeated me. I did narrow the problem to a bad custom chip! Come along and see the heaviest 8-bit computer I owned before I got even heavier ones. https://www.leadedsolder.com/2026/02/10/fujitsu-fm77av2-damaged-keyboard-controller-failure.html #retrocomputing #FM77AV #fm7 #fujitsu #debugging
