<p>Bigger than any known bacterium・Views informed by trillions of microbes</p><p>I got my PhD in Dianne Newman&#39;s lab at Caltech, where I teased apart the genetic mechanisms behind a new metabolic process in a bacterium I isolated from soil. This work was supported by an NSF GRFP fellowship. For my postdoc, I&#39;m working with Ellen Yeh at Stanford to develop the microalga Botryooccus braunii into a model system for studying plant lipid secretion.</p>
