Honestly surprised Google would do something that makes an app less cluttered with crap! I'm sure they'll still run plenty of AI scam ads of "Elon musk" pushing some crypto. But this is a start! https://www.theverge.com/streaming/912898/youtube-shorts-feed-limit-zero-minutes

Those who know me know I have long made the argument that hosting AI slop is a bad business model because viewers will not find it very interesting and leave. This video makes a great argument that even if there *is* a large audience for slop, that audience will STILL leave which is something I hadn't considered. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVE2ogxKE3s

A really nice-to-see piece by @ardent_handsaw that echoes my experience finally switching to Linux. It's time to get the word out that, well, it's kinda boring (in a good way) now. And that fact makes it really really exciting. https://www.theverge.com/tech/918797/switched-to-linux-dont-miss-windows

As the quality of search goes down, people are forced to rephrase and search again to find what they want. Oh wait sorry, it's apparently because *checks notes* people love AI. https://www.theverge.com/tech/920815/google-alphabet-q1-2026-earnings-sundar-pichai

@nixCraft There's an old proverb that goes: "The best time to switch to Firefox is twenty years ago. The second best time is now."
