@alecmuffett@mastodon.social @frog_reborn@mstdn.social I was still into octonauts for a few months after my oldest lost interest! We’re occasionally the “worst parents in the world” for our strict limits but I’m not backing down. They will certainly make up for it when they move out. I’m not sure if those laws are going to help or hurt but it’s just good to have any kind of broad social discussion about it instead of just letting it all happen.

@alecmuffett@mastodon.social @frog_reborn@mstdn.social I’m coming at this from a different angle: kids need to go outside and get off of any screens. But I’m lucky to live somewhere where that’s possible and understand that not everyone is. But bikes are safer than you think and I hope some of this energy goes into fixing your libraries.

@alecmuffett@mastodon.social @frog_reborn@mstdn.social I’ll have to confess to not knowing the details- I live in a place where those corporations basically are the government, and hearing that they are taking punches elsewhere is really just an wonderful story to me. But I do maintain trust that the kids will route around these things.

@frog_reborn@mstdn.social @alecmuffett@mastodon.social I think you are profoundly underestimating the resilience and creativity of humanity here. The kids will route around these restrictions. Cutting some of the deliberately addictive platforms of a couple of predatory corporations out of the minds of children for a few years will be a net positive.
