I like to put in Easter Eggs for others, but also for myself; I’m intrigued to see if anyone would ever clock… They’re also the things that make the writing my own.

  #scribesandmakers Oct 12 Do you ever talk to people in song lyrics? Many lyrics are pointed towards people. However, I don’t think I’ve ever done that directly, although I’ve had people talk to me … “It’s trick or treat, treasure and trash: I’ve had enough of you, Nocash” There is a nagging doubt that somewhere there’s a line waiting to be quoted back at me where I’ve spoken directly to someone. I’m not sure anyone would be sufficiently familiar with my back catalogue to oblige, mind.

  #scribesandmakers Oct 14 How do you feel when a show that is non-musical inserts an episode with a musical number? It depends so heavily on how it’s done. I’ve seen some very powerful instances, yet others where it is so obviously filler and a lazy idea. So my thoughts rely on individual context.

  #scribesandmakers Oct 15 How confident are you feeling about your work today? Honestly? I’m on a seesaw between having some ideas and wondering if I will ever be able to write another long-form piece. I invested so much emotion and creative energy into ‘Nothing Much’, none of which I regret whatsoever, that I’m feeling a tad drained, and there is a LOT of stuff happening around me at the moment in the real-world that is consuming my mental energy. But, the ideas keep coming. So who knows? 🙂

Gary Davies was nicknamed ‘the medallion man’, and was permatanned. He still DJs today, but with perhaps less focus on his looks.
