On one hand, it drips of entitled US exceptionalism based on nothing but the usual ignorance of international law and international relations. Guess what, the exact same views dominated the German view back in 1945/46/47. They throughly believed that their own justice system should have dealt with their own citizens, and not a foreign tribunal. Obviously, that view has changed over time because Germans later...

  @jensclasen@mastodon.social Unfassbar. Als dürfte man als Deutscher die Landesflagge von Schleswig-Holstein nicht zeigen, oder meinetwegen die bayerische. Das sind REGULÄRE Flaggen und kein politisches Statement. Dann erwarte ich verdammt noch mal auch, dass die Amis ihren elenden Scheiẞlappen auch nicht jedem ständig ins Gesicht hauen dürfen. NIEMAND ist so nervig damit wie die Amis, die sonst nicht zu wissen scheinen, was und wer sie sind...

  Funny how two can do the same and mean something completely different. Here in Germany and much of Europe, showing your ID and proving you are a citizen is completely normal in the poll station. But this only works because registration at the place of residence is mandatory, resulting in everybody having an ID. Voting here is SOOO easy because you automatically get a notice in your mail 6 weeks before the next election telling you the exact location and the date of the vote. Nobody tries to tak...
