Can anyone confirm or debunk this? Anecdotally, I found that compost seems to act basically as a heat pump: it’s much colder below and there is condensation … which would tend to show that it does in fact not help nearby plants that much? There’s probably an inner layer that gets colder and an outer layer that gets the nutrients? https://www.instagram.com/p/DbLO0IljUFP/

RE: https://infosec.exchange/@GuillaumeRossolini/114528117027500354 While trying to better understand my usage patterns today, I did some experimentation with the little box that my electricity utility installed at my place (it has buttons and a screen and I can see how much estimated energy the house is consuming at any given time) Why does my vitro ceramic stuff draw 25W constantly? And the oven, same amount while also doing nothing at all? There is only a clock display that serves no purpo...

I messed up WhatsApp’s PIN 3 times in a row, got worried that they’d wipe my data Switched to the password manager app, verified that I indeed didn’t input the correct code and which it is Switched back to WhatsApp, was immediately let in, no code to input … big fail, I’d say #privacy #whatsapp #pin

@vindsolheatpump@mastodon.social if you want to talk about costs, it would help to put them in this article or at least in your product pages

@bryan@dusty.ninja I’m challenging the 60s claim for apt commands on a Raspberry Pi 4… That’s when there is nothing to do! Otherwise, it’s probably an hour or so

@sean@scoat.es I was about to respond with the French equivalent, but then I realized I didn’t memorize it Anyway, over here (French countryside) they’re saying something along the lines of “on this side if you’re facing forward” or some naval analogy, in any case there is no debate but also there’s at most 3 languages spoken so

@chris@socialbc.ca actually, the heat wave coincides with a lull in wind activity, as they often do And some electronics tend to shut down when the heat is too intense, as well

@chris@socialbc.ca I’m going to disagree with “can’t function” From the article: EDF said the loss of 2.2 gigawatts – about 3.5 percent of the country's nuclear capacity – does not threaten the balance between supply and demand. And: The state-owned utility plans to invest 8.7 billion euros by 2040 to adapt its nuclear and hydroelectric power stations to a warmer climate.

I’ve been experimenting with my newish solar battery Represented here is the end of the charge cycle yesterday at about the same time the sun started to set I’ve been powering the freezer with this 2 kWh battery, and every morning there is ~50% charge left, and so far every day I get it up to 90% (by choice) from solar alone I can also do a load of laundry or two, and some vacuuming, without being even connected to the grid (if I get the timing right) Of course this is clear summer weather,...
