RE: https://climatejustice.social/@ketan/117001974244089760 This is so on the nose it almost makes me think someone at The Times is genuinely trying to get a message across.

I can't post this, but I simultaneously can't not post this. Jeff from The Dragon's Tomb, a board game YouTube channel, was somehow sent a $2000 AI sex doll to review. So he did. The highest compliment I can give this video is that it gets both worse and better the longer it goes on. Tentatively tagging #boardgames. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhJWvt6MB5A

RE: https://mastodon.world/@signalapp/116716184796039663 "Child safety looks like well-funded education, robust social services, and meaningful guardrails on the very AI technologies and platforms the current government is eagerly courting. What the UK government wants instead is invisible surveillance infrastructure, switched on by default and potentially rushed into law under cynical pretexts." ๐

Another little shout-out for the genius of Tim Hunkin. Here he is demonstrating how a lockstitch sewing machine works by way of his "human sewing machine". This is from The Secret Life of the Sewing Machine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lwI4TSKM3Y (h/t to @katiefenn for putting this in my head by way of her sewing post earlier.) #TimHunkin #Maker #Sewing #Craft

Apropos of nothing: the only man ever to recover from Alzheimer's disease* was Ernest Saunders, a multi-millionaire who was diagnosed just after he had been convicted of insider trading and had his prison sentence halved from 5 years to 2.5 as a result. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c2034ww6kqxo https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernest_Saunders#Sentence_and_appeal

@djr2024@mastodon.social @ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us Dara O'Briain: "I get really pissed off when people give out about crime going up when the numbers are definitely going down. And if you say the numbers are going down, they go, 'but the FEAR of crime is rising'. Well so what? Zombies are at an all-time low level, but the fear of zombies could be incredibly high. It doesn't mean we have to have government policies to deal with the fear of zombies. It's ridiculous." T...
