While I was watching "In the Mouth of Madness" my wife was watching "Ghost Town" (2008) and we both agree I was probably watching the better movie. #monsterdon

"A physical book is a delivery mechanism for information. Once that information has been extracted and encoded into an AI model, the delivery mechanism has served its purpose." I'd say they said the quiet part out loud, but these asshats don't have a quiet part to say.

The word we're looking for to describe this movie is "lame". #monsterdon

The closing credits music in yesterday's #monsterdon showing of "Zarkorr! the Intruder" triggered a memory. I finally figured out what it was.

YES! I can make it for #monsterdon this week. And by all accounts, this one is gonna be T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E.

Went to see "The Furious" tonight (sorry #Monsterdon ) The fight choreography is off the charts. The two leads are charismatic as hell in the best way. The story is good enough to drive forward the action sequences, even though the dialogue is, at times, pretty ridiculous. I attribute that to the dubbing. But the kids have good dialogue and delivery because they aren't dubbed. Also, prep for a bit of bloodiness.

I read through Zettlr's tutorial and it seems like something to try, but I this part of the tutorial is looks, well, not great.

Trying out Joplin now. It has one aspect right away that bothers me: it is pretends to be a native app but clearly isn't because it does not respect the system theme. Why must the sidebar be forever in dark mode?

I make it a point to listen to every album I get at least once. I got an album a little while ago that is challenging that rule. (Not gonna mention names.)

RE: https://cosocial.ca/@mhoye/116505044352905294 The aspect of the LLM era that gets to me the most is how it is laying bare the beliefs of people. If it is not itself a religious symbol then it is making it clear what your religious symbol is.

If you want to recover from the #monsterdon movie this week, I recommend going out to see "Hokum". It's a great, creepy horror movie. All mood. No gore.

"Our general lack of curiosity about how the platforms and services we use every day really work means that we often believe the hype, giving automation more credit than it’s actually due." https://logicmag.io/failure/the-automation-charade/

RE: https://sw-development-is.social/@maaikees/116430876775065330 Computer Science and tech are profoundly ahistorical. It's what you get when your entire ethos comes from the mind of futurists: long term dreams with narrow, short term thinking. That's why I now say that CompSci is, thematically, a branch of business schools. I do not see it as a rigorous discipline anymore.

Hot take: CompSci is basically a branch of business schools.
