Rabies tags
When we do a Trap Neuter Release [TNR] the cat gets a rabies vaccine. If that is handled through the shelter they do not get a tag because they know that cat’s going to be re-released and no one’s ever going to need to prove it was vaccinated. If anyone has any doubts they can just see that it’s got a clipped ear and know that it’s already been done. But if it’s done through a veterinary office, you get the tag. But the tag doesn’t follow the cat. So I have a pile of rabies tags. Keep thinki...

Lovey has been reunited with her brother.
It took a while for someone to catch her brother. The good news is that he is a biscuit maker. Hopefully his presence will calm Lovey down a bit. But as you can see she isn’t calmed yet.

Waiting on friends.
Early this week we took delivery of this kid while waiting for their siblings to be trapped. They can be a bit afraid but also very loud when they want something. At first I thought they wanted to be Thurston Howell because they couldn be so loud. But it turns out they are actually Lovey Howell.

TNR boy.
Today’s TNR boy was extra spicy. It’s not very often we catch one with blue eyes that’s more than two months old. Four traps. Two catches. One TNR eligible. One return customer. We have been hitting this colony for a year now. From this point we will have to use drop traps. But we are almost done.

Reagan
Reagan came with other cats named after presidents. She was too mean to be adopted by anyone so she lives here but is not officially our cat. She belongs to a rescue. Reagan decided to join us inside today. That’s a rare event other than the morning feeding. She was overdue for some flea meds. That long fur is not a good match in this South Carolina humidity or for fleas. But she is spicy so that takes some work We blocked off the cat door, closed other doors and gave her limited places to be...

Maylin is making progress
Maylin came to us as a very spicy girl. Apparently she was friendly until the day she showed up at the shelter. And the longer she stayed the worse she got. They handed her off to me to see if I could help bring her back around. It was decided that she was not a candidate for adoption and never would be. There was no place to release her so we just opened the kennel and let her decide what to do. She knows where the cat door is. She uses it. But she also loves living on the kitchen island. I...

Hannah Montana Linux is getting an update after 18 years. Will it be just updating all the software and standards or will it re-envision Hannah Montana nostalgia with hindsight? Can you ever step in the same river twice?

Marcus litter.
I got these 5 from someone who trapped them at a local dump. The hour they arrived I started them on panacur because their bellies were angry. And they, understandably, were a little angry too. It’s been three weeks and today was their first trip to the vet. They got all the vaccines and all the tests. They popped for coccidia, hookworms and roundworms. It’s completely expected for spicy kids to come in with at least one parasite. But to have three even after treatment for two of them is ra...

Unnamed kid
It’s my [non paying] job to notice when a cat has a problem. This kitty has no lower lip. I haven’t named anyone from this litter, yet. I haven’t found the right naming scheme at this point. Feel free to suggest one. This could cause all kinds of long term health issues. It could mean he isn’t a great adoption candidate. We might be forced to keep him. Oh no. A 14th cat.

Left or Right?
On the right, standard American breakfast. On the left, too much chorizo and a bit of cheese version. Eggs came from the backyard. Cost for left, $2.50. Cost for rent right, 90¢.

Cece and Jackie all cuddled up together.
Two cats brought in as ferals that are being buddy buddy. Cece is now friendly but normally I can’t even look at Jackie without her running.

Lemon and Ludo
Lemon is trying to find the nicest place to lay down on pillow dog.

Cece was at the petting station
You can’t pet Cece in the yard. You can’t pet him in the kitchen even if you have cheese. And you will never see CeCe the part of the house that has the dogs. You can’t pet him anywhere except on the bathroom counter. If he’s there you’re allowed to pet him as deeply and vigorously as you can and he will purr the whole way with a very loud purr that lets you that he tolerats you.

Got a call that there was an 8-week-old kitten trying to use the distribution system on somebody with four chihuahuas. So now I have a new foster.

Ghost cat Jackie
There are a few cats in my house that I don’t legally own. Jackie is one of them. She came in as a foster with her sister and I was never able to come anywhere close to taming her. And there is also an extreme lack of feral cat colonies to relocate cats like her to. So she lives here. But we don’t own her. She’s technically in the custody of a local rescue. She has free reign to go outside whenever she wants through the cat door and come in whenever she wants. Every once in a while we will...

When I started at one company I put together a text file with all the different sources of info I found in training. By the end of training I had turned it into an HTML file. Years later we got bought out. Support from corporate disappeared on legacy customs who hadn’t moved over to new stuff. A coworker tapped me on the shoulder “If I were to make a local network web server on one of these computers could I upload your help system to it for everyone to use?” Next thing you know I’m the defa...

I don’t know that the NRA can really be included in that anymore. The administration has been very clear that it does not support gun rights. And the NRA did speak up, as much as their completely depleted budget would allow, against any idea that you can’t bring a gun to a protest. The problem, in part, is that the you, the NRA has been completely neutered. Not by the bureaucrats of New York. Not by the insurance agencies. Not gun owners that are members. But by their own corrupt policies that...
