  To my knowledge, the DPRK is the only socialist country that has implemented direct elections at all levels. Neither the Soviet Union (in its time) nor China have embraced a complete system of direct elections Since it is only a short excerpt, there may be some context missing. Or I may be misinterpreting it. But it seems to me to be incorrect, the soviets did have direct elections after the 1936 constitution?
