Okay, here's a cracker for #ThrowbackThursday - this photo was taken in 1993 by an old buddy Pete MacDonald from Findochty on the Moray Coast. I was helping him repair his old boat's even older diesel engine (hence the manky overalls) when we got word that a young dolphin had been trapped and drowned in a poaching net. We recovered the young dolphin who, only 5 years old was around 9 feet in length. Me beside the dolphin for scale (I'm 6 feet). #Bycatch #Dolphin #Nature

Here's my namesake surfing through big waves out near the Riff Bank sandbank in the Inner Moray Firth. The underwater sandbanks are the other reason that the Inner Firth is designated a Special Area of Conservation, the first being the presence of resident Bottlenose dolphins, like big Charlie boy here. #Nature #Dolphins #Wildlife #Sea

A nice trip out on the water on Dolphin Mischief yesterday in lovely conditions (a bit cloudy and drizzly this morning) with groups of dolphins around the Chanonry Narrows including this very cute and still very pale year old baby, Spirtle's second calf. #Nature #Wildlife #Inverness

Doing a bit of filming for an upcoming Channel 4 programme today at Chanonry Point - thankfully the big weather front mainly went round us, not through us. Very strong N/W wind though.

Happy 100th Birthday to a true icon of wildlife conservation, filmmaking and television — Sir David Attenborough, the great communicator. After a lifetime spent exploring and revealing the wonders of our natural world, David continues to inspire us, reminding us how deeply connected all living things are and why every species matters. An important message we all need to carry forward. Sir David Attenborough - have a wonderful 100th birthday.

I missed some dolphins this morning, couldn't get on the boat because of a Teams meeting 🤬 but some wee Harbour Porpoise appeared this afternoon, tiny souls but very endearing.

A close up of the Bottlenose dolphin dorsal fin of ID#744 "Bonnie" this afternoon, the greenish tinge to the wet reflection on the fin is the passengers spray suits - she came that close! for #MeerMittwoch #SeaWednesday

Some dolphins approaching Chanonry Point earlier this afternoon with a few people on the beach - a cold but sunny day, I was out on the bigger 'Spirit' cruiser today, higher up so a different perspective on the dolphins.

With the lighter nights coming in, crepuscular species like the Pine Marten can be glimpsed and sometimes passable photos can be obtained. This shot was at 8pm one evening in an old friends (huge) garden where he had Red Squirrels as well as the Martens visiting. #Nature #Wildlife #WildlifePhotography #PineMarten #Mustelid #Scotland

We don't need this fucking mental case adding to nazi inflammatory rhetoric by Farage and his ilk. "Ye" can fuck off so "Ye" can. 🤡 BBC News - Wireless Festival cancelled after Kanye West blocked from coming to UK - BBC News https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gxk3kxjr0o
