RE: https://social.coop/@adamgreenfield/117076914581549289 Every word of this, for every single fucking piece of software. IT is the only industry that gets away with treating clients like shit. This of course explains why basically nothing works, and if one wants to do anything remotely useful with a computer outside of programming (which is its own can of worms) one better rely on 40-year old tools and methods. Or maybe everyone ends up with Markdown fils because the hash/asterisk keys felt i...

More and more convinced that using LLMs tells us so much more about workplace incentives and what can pass for "work" than it does about the technology.

Me: I fear the moment when obbroprium, mobilisation and will have to be replaced with action, as open revolt is a very blunt instrument causing lots of collateral damage. Also me: let's burn this shit down.

Graz...

#fedihelp hey Fedi! I am trying to get in touch with the owners to the rights of Joseph Weizenbaum;s "Computer Power and Human Reason". The Weizenbaum Institute (a research institute, not a family foundation) does not seem too responsive. Last time (1987) the rights were with Penguin in the UK. These days they may be still with them or possibly with Prof. Weizenbaum's heirs. Anyone know someone who knows someone who knows someone? Thank you!

The Post-American Era has started. Time to get to work. Humility, this time, would be a good stating point. > This fiction was useful, and American hegemony, in particular, helped provide public goods, open sea lanes, a stable financial system, collective security and support for frameworks for resolving disputes. So we placed the sign in the window. We participated in the rituals, and we largely avoided calling out the gaps between rhetoric and reality. https://www.theguardian.com/comm...

Grazie a tutti. dk.dataknightmare.eu
