This morning my husband and I took a walk in a wildflower meadow near our house and I picked a selection of flowers leaves and grasses I thought would work well for gel plate printing. Here's what was inspired by my walk!

We bought a new oven this week and it has a steam bake feature just for baking bread! I tried it out for the first time on this beautiful #sourdough loaf and it worked great. I also baked some sourdough biscuits this morning as well.

My contribution to #caturday… meet George! He loves hanging out in the stairwell and meowing just to enjoy the sound of his voice echoing.

I’m traveling to a Zentangle workshop near Toronto in a few weeks and someone has organized an Artist Trading Card exchange, so I made my first set of ATC’s ever! No idea why I didn’t do this before. I thought it would be tedious but it was actually super fun! These are a combination of #gelplateprinting and #zentangle. Today I custom made a little box to display them in and also covered it with one of my hand painted papers. #atc #artisttradingcards

Today’s #baking adventure was #bagels! We got a new mixer and this was a perfect test recipe given the long kneading time. Here in Slovenia yeast is sold “fresh” and is refrigerated or frozen - very different than the active dry yeast I was used to in the US. They aren’t perfect but I think they are not too bad for a first try using new tools and new ingredients! Next time I will get them into the oven quicker after boiling (for shine) and also add the cheese topping at the halfway point.

I’m back in the US for a few weeks visiting family and doing some other wrap up tasks related to our move and my husband stayed home in #slovenia. He sent me this photo with a simple “good morning”. This is my normal morning view, looking out the window of our bedroom. I miss it so much!
