Artix isn't going to comply with age-gating.
Per the very first reply on their thread discussing it in their forums, which I linked directly to for the post title: We’ll NEVER require any verification or identification from the user. However, what’s gonna happen should the attempts to age-gate the XDG portal screw over alt-init distros like Artix too? My guess is maybe they start blocking regions which force age gating like Arch Linux 32 is doing.

Plus laws going after alternative OSes, no doubt lobbied for by MS to eliminate competition for Windows, are starting to creep in now, see Cali and Colorado. Next step will be mandating SecureBoot and limiting OS selection to a short list of approved options. And the end game will be thin clients connected to the cloud.

Think about mp3 CDs… …Or worse, ATRAC CDs (yes those really existed), which thankfully also never caught on because had they caught on, given ATRAC is a proprietary Sony codec, they would’ve only been able to be played back on Sony CD players which supported the ATRAC codec.

Phoenix2 APUs like the R3 8300G and R5 8500G are the worst offenders in the ‘cutting PCIe lanes’ department. The R5 8500G only has 14 lanes, for example. The FX-8350 and 8370 from a decade earlier, had 32 lanes available, plus whatever the chipset supported, but they were all PCIe 2 as AM3+ was a PCIe 2 platform.

Just consider that Netfliix and Co. don’t offer higher resolutions than 720p (?) on browsers that are not Edge Specifically, on browsers that are not Edge on Windows. And yeah, I genuinely don’t know the reasoning is behind specifically requiring Edge on Windows, when I’m sure Chrome on Windows supports the same DRM.
