  Did a very quick interaction prototype for showing which commits are local-only, in @Retcon. It’s something I’d really like to show, but I haven’t been happy with anything so far. Maybe this will do?

  Always amusing how some CLI tools treat ASCII spaces as alien, unknowable technology. Here, I can’t build Godot, because my copy of Xcode (i.e. my developer toolchain) is at a path with spaces (“Added apps”, “Code editors”).

  You should almost never type `rm` in your terminal. In a script, sure. On the command line? Use `trash`! Same effect, but vastly safer. Just because you’re good at computers doesn’t mean you won’t make mistakes. A very simple habit for avoiding a lot of pain. Defaulting to `rm` makes no sense.

  I’m thinking of adding this shortcut to Retcon, to quickly switch from commit to commit: Control-Option-Down (and Control-Option-Up). Down that sound hard, unpleasant to hit to you? I think some people would pretty frequently use it. #macOS #AppDesign

  The disconnect is strange: Apple keeps talking about putting the focus on content rather than chrome; but the new UI elements are literally the most prominent thing in the new design. Raised sidebar, raised toolbar buttons—aesthetically these are nice, but they’re so attention-grabbing?!

  Happy to finally, finally release this update! Been working on-and-off on copy and paste for more than a year. Plus, I think it’s a really cool way of solving cherry picking; both completely unique among Git clients, AFAICT, and so natural it looks completely obvious.   The Apple indie dev community is undergoing an identity crisis. For decades, whatever Apple said was good, was good. People mostly agreed with their ethics, design priorities, way of doing business. Now that all of that has, well, severely degraded, it leaves us in the dark. The north star is gone.

  Dye’s icon changes color whenever you switch an app’s theme. The animation is powered by a chain of Core Image filters, mostly to make the color visibly follow hair strands, by using a transition mask. I think most people won’t notice the change, making it into a very unsubtle easter egg?

  Anyone understands what contributes to memory pressure? I’ve turned on all memory columns in Activity Monitor, but nothing seems to really correlate with pressure. Right now my Mac (with 16GB RAM) has a process using a whopping 34GB of memory. Sometimes that results in a lot of memory pressure, and sometimes not. Should I look at a different column? Is there something else?

  So, with @chris we spent January making Pancake: an app for making your own blog. It lets you both create and edit your site, and instantly publish it to the built-in hosting service.
