  Announcement for mastodon.art users: We are limiting social.tchncs.de following their failure to moderate a blatantly transmisic user after being made aware of several transmisic posts. When I contacted the admin linking the posts and asking if they uphold their own instance rules that prohibit transmisia, the admin responded by demonstrating sealioning behaviour instead of believing the many trans people who had spoken up, and then excused himself from the conversation.   Gentle reminder considering recent events, please *please* use content warnings when discussing politics, violence, and especially political violence. What has happened is awful. It's important people know what's going on in Minneapolis, in the USA, in Venezuela, in Gaza, etc.. But it's also important that you let people brace for that information if they need to. Content Warnings let people prepare themselves; you'll gain readers by using them. Please use them.

  Update: the TERF user has been kicked off home.social. Moving from fediblock to a 'silence' while we keep an eye - it's still a huge instance with only one moderator but otherwise seems okay (and they have a good block list :artpaw: )

  We have a lot of really big, professional artists signing up on .art over the last few days, and it can be daunting posting your art here in the face of their work. I want you to know that I'll still emphasise boosting art from small artists. This is a space for us to learn and grow and support each other, to motivate each other and to squash our impostor syndrome because it's a stinky lying liarpants. :meowybara:

  Can we please not with all the ableist language I'm seeing around discussing AI (and anything, really)? Using words to refer to negative situations, when those words have been used to describe people with mental health problems, is perpetuating a stigma that mental health conditions and the people that have them are inherently bad. Examples under CW below. We *at the very least* limit anyone we see using language like this, and almost always it's a full block from our instance.

  It will never, ever, *ever* be the responsibility of marginalised people to tolerate harassment, abuse, bigotry, hate speech, fascism, etc. just so priviliged people get a broader social reach.
